First, it delineates aspects of the meaning of funeral work as it is understood by an insider and emphasizes the practical, everyday activities of the funeral director. Particular regard is shown the funeral director's behavior during non~public phases of the funeral. Secondly, the presentation focuses upon strategies by which the funeral director coordinates the funeral rather than upon the aspects of the funeral situation he manipulates. Finally, strategies for doing funeral work, such as creating slack and reframing removal settings.
